coleus

Question
I was gifited a beautiful fall colored coleus about 5 weeks ago I repotted it form the plastic container. The leaves are pale now and dry out. The new growth is dry and crumbles. I have all day sunlight. no heat.
I was successful 30 years ago with a "giant " coleus. Lost my touch! Help. I am certain I could reroot if necessary. I ariatrated the soil. Too dry? too wet? What?

Answer
Meridith,

Probably too much sun and maybe too much water. Most coleus needs a shady location and well drained soil with lots of perlite and sand in it. A few hybrid coleus can take bright sun but you have to know that you have a hybrid sun lover to keep it in the sun. It should never sit in standing water. You might be able to reroot some cuttings if there are any branches still healthy. If you have more specific questions write again. Good luck!
