shurbs

Question
I live in the Washington D.C area We just brought a Juniper shrub.I brought it in a maybe 50 gallon bucket.  It started to brown i have had it about 2mo. how long will it take for the brown to turn green?

Answer
Bekinda,
If the browning is on the inside of the plant, then this is normal and the juniper will be fine. Most evergreens drop their inner needles when they are under stress.
If the browning is outside, then we have a problem. Browning from the top is an indication of root problems and stress from transplant shock. Have you been watering it enough? Junipers do not like a lot of water, but they do require watering at least twice a week. Overwatering, especially in a container, can drown the roots and cause it to die off.
Mites will cause a juniper to have a bronzish color, if the plant looks like this, then treat it with a miticide to stop further damage.
In any case, I would recommend fertilizing it this fall and again in the spring to try to strengthen it.
Good luck.
