Cutting back Lemon Tree

Question
I have a lemon tree in my yard that appears to be a dwarf for it is only 6' or so.  I am told it has been here for years so I'm assuming it is mature.

It is really overgrown and needs to be shaped. Can you tell me the best way to trim it back without hurting it?

Thank you!

Answer
Patricia,

This type of pruning cannot be taught over the internet. I would recommend that you look at the ISA wbsite. The web address is http://www.treesaregood.com/treecare/treecareinfo.aspx This site will show you where and how to make the proper cuts and care for the tree afterwards.

Good luck,
ED Gulliksen
