camellia sasanqua

Question
I have a camellia sasanqua plant in a pot.It has buds but not flowering. The same thing happenened last year. And again this year i am seeing some black-brown spots on leaves.
plzzzzz help.

Answer
Hello Rumana

This sounds like camellia leaf spot and can be treated with a spray obtainable from any garden centre.

Budding, but not flowering sounds as if the compost in the container might have become impoverished due to the plant being pot bound.  You could try repotting it in fresh compost if it isn't too big.

If that isn't possible, try scraping out the top 3 inches of the compost and replacing with fresh.  Make sure that the compost is kept moist and give the plant a feed with a balanced liquid fertiliser on a regular basis - the container should give advise on how often this should be done.
