possible spray damage

Question
recently sprayed yard for weeds using 2-4 chemical, i don't think i got any on the yew shrubs, but was wondering what the shrubs would look like if so? right now some of the shrubs have some brown areas, but there's not any consistent damage and some shrubs look fine. the shrubs are small maybe a year old. area is west texas, we've had plently of winter moisture, drainage maybe an issue also. thank you for any suggestion or help.

Answer
Hello Craig

If there was a breeze when you used the spray it is possible that some of the weedkiller drifted onto the yew and affected only parts of the plants, which could account for the inconsistent browning.

Yew does like a moist, well drained soil, but if drainage was the problem I would expect to see more consistent distress.

You also say that the plants are only a year old.  There times when some plants in a new hedge will die, while adjacent plants thrive.  One-one really knows why this should happen.

Just keep your eye on the plants and if some of them do die, it should be OK to just replace them.
