Rose Pest: Lime Green catapillar

Question
I finally discovered what has been munching on my yellow climbing rose leafs....a pale lime green catapillar.  I didn't notice any horn antennae.  I removed him of course but how do I keep them from coming back please?  The rose is only a year old.  Thank you!  I live in south central MN.

Answer
The little green worms are the larvae of the Tortix moth. You can get rid of them two ways. One by spraying with any rose insecticide, just follow the directions on the label for caterpillars. The other is by picking them plus the foliage off yourself. They won't come back as the eggs were laid in the early spring and that is all there is. Roses are capable of putting out three sets of leaves so don't worry about taking some of the leaves off as they will re-grow. Hope this helps.
