Hi Rachel-

Modern hybrid tea roses usually don't have a long life span.  If they live 2-5 years that is a long time for a modern rose.  If you supply the essentials: water, sun, fertilizer, and weekly spraying with a fungicide/pesticide that is all you can do.  I recommend you check out the Texas A&M website for Earth Kind roses - these roses thrive on neglect.
