blooms?

Question
I took out some tree roses that were old and the next year i had suckers growing up. I made a couple of cuttings, there growing fine What I'm asking is will they ever bloom? Thanks for your time!!

Answer
If you dug a tree rose out then the suckers are probably from the base of the long stem and they are usually Rugosa roses. You can tell by the bright wrinkled foliage. If the foliage is smooth then it will be the climber Dr. Huey and he only blooms on second year wood so you will have to wait until next spring. Dr. Huey is a semi double deep red. I doubt the suckers will be like the top of the rose tree as they are budded on the top. Hope this helps.
