roses - no leaves

Question
I have about 15 roses in my rose garden.  All are producing lovely flowers.  However, the garden looks awful... none of the plants have any leaves.  I fertilize with a diluted rose fertilizer every week.  Any suggestions

Answer
When rose roots get under stress, it saves itself by dropping it's leaves so the roots don't have to feed as much. This is usually caused by a heat wave or a long period of hotter weather. This has been one of the worst years fro roses in all parts of the States including mine. It is a good idea to use a mulch if you garden in an area where it can get hot. Roses love cool roots and the mulch gives it to them. Also saves on your watering a lot. I am taking a guess on this because I don't know where you garden. As I said, some areas of the States have had hot spells and this is what happens to their roses. Hope this helps.
