Fertilizer

Question
I am trying to locate a fertilizer that I use to get a Wolfe Nursery and Calloways Nursery here in San Antonio, Texas.  They had several types.  It was inexpensive, granular, 5 - 10 lbs bags, and only needed to be applied directly to the plant every 6 weeks.  The name had Grow in it.  I lost the name of the company.  Calloways quit caring it a while back.  With the number of rose and tropical I have the little boxes won't work.  I just spent half the morning trying to use feed my roses with a liquid saluble fertilizer and just ended up getting more on me than on the plants.  It takes to long.  Please help me locate this product or one similar to it.

Answer
Large nurseries quite often put out bids to get  large fertilizer companies to make up a fertilizer especially for them. Then the nursery puts their own name on the bags. If a manufactures bid gets too high, then they will change over to another one. However the new one may not allow the nursery to use a different name. the only fertilizer name that had grow in it was Miracle Grow which later changed it's name to Miracle Gro. Local garden centers or even plant nurseries are expensive places to buy fertilizers. You can usually get them cheaper at the farm and feed stores. You can also make up your own fertilizer because they carry all the different chemicals to make it up. Often the farm and feed people will help you make a good one for your plants.
