Question
We recently purchased a home in Corona, CA.  It has a well established sod lawn.  I would like to know your suggestion for the best fertilizer for now (Jan) or should I wait until Spring to fertilize?  Also, is it healthy NOT to mow the lawn every week, even if the lawn is not growing much or does the mowing stimulate the lawn?  I am trying to handle our yard myself in order to save the expense of a gardner.  Thank you!

Mowing won't stimulate anything if it's too cool to be growing much. I'd wait until the temps get steadily above 75 before you fertilize. At that point, my favorite is a good organic fertilizer like Milorganite, but there are many options.
