rose suckers

Question
I dug up and transplanted some of my rose bushes last year. Now I have rose bushes coming up in the areas I dug out. Are they suckers or are they pieces of the same rose bushes I dug up?? There are 3 coming up in the places I dug up last summer. Will they give me roses or not? Do suckers ever give roses on them?  Thank you

Answer
Most modern roses are budded onto an understock called Dr. Huey and it is a very vigorous rose. Suckers are just rose canes growing from a root and they will flower in a couple of years. If they are from your original rose, then yes they will make a new rose bush. They will also make a rose bush of Dr. Huey but you can tell the difference when they flower as Dr. Huey is a small, double carmine red flower.
