transplanting and pruning tree rose

Question
I have a tree rose that is leaning toward the sun (to the west, leaning allot, and want to know when to replant it in a new bed that will get much more sun. I also need to know when and how to prune it and how much I can prune it, since it is getting very lanky. Lots of flowers on it.

Answer
The best time to move any rose is when it is dormant so that means early spring and late fall when there are no laves on the plant. So have the new hole ready and then move the rose as quick as you can because it is a tree rose. Then it should be staked as wind could make it lean over. Tie the stake close to the tree rose's stem just under the head. Tie it tight so the tree stem won't move. Then tie it hallway down and finally at the base. Any movement in the stem will disturb the roots and you want them to grow again. Prune your tree rose's head the same way as you would any other modern rose. Cut the canes no longer  than 8 inches from the centre of the head radiating out from the centre you should have a diameter all around the top of about around 8 inches. Then the rose will grow back again to a larger head and bloom well. You concentrate of the main thicker canes growing from the center and you shorten those first to 8 inches. Then you cut back the smaller cans that are growing out from these main ones, to 3 inches long. This is where the flowers will come from. Tree roses like to have cool roots so any type of mulch placed all around the base makes them happy.
