fr ft tree and ants

Question
Ants climbing up and down my grape fruit tree and crawling inside it and back out. Its an old tree, how old I do not know, but it was full grown when i moved here 22 years ago. If ants not hurt it, then I will leave alone. Should i be concerned?

Answer
HI Pa...  ants climbing up and down the tree could mean the soil is very dry or that they are harboring bugs.  Check the leaves especially under neath to see if bugs are not taking over.  You could spray as much as you can with an insecticidal spray, such as pure Neem Oil, spraying the trunk, ground around the tree and leaves.  It is organic, so it will not poison you, absorb into the leaf to protect from the next generation of bugs to stay away.
