Rose Topiary

Question
How do I bring my rose topiary back to a round shape?
I bought my wife a rose topiary a year ago. The first year it bloomed beautifully from the stems that formed the round shape.
However the second year those stems turned black, so I trimmed them off. Now I have on stem with hardly any leaves. How do I achieve the original shape? The original ball shaped stem is there with the one stem growing straight up from it.
I stored the rose in a shed over the recent harsh winter.
Thank you.

Answer
This rose type is budded so that there are three rose plants growing around it and then when they put out growth, it makes it look like a ball. If two have died you will only get a tall thin look. You could cut the on stem right back to 2 inches and see if it will become bushy. It sounds like the two budded roses were killed over the winter.
