Why my long stem roses dont open?

Question
Hello,I live in San Jose,CA.The tag on my roses, when I bought them said,"Hybrid tea Chrysler Imperial Red"Long Stem Roses. The problem I am having,is that when the rose buds grow nice & big, they don't open up.They stay closed.I've never had this problem before, with my other roses. Is there something I need to be doing,so they will open up beautifully?
Thank You for your time & help, Robert

Answer
The main reasons a rose bud will not open, even when they are fat, is usually water has got into the bud and has glued the petals together. The other is that some sort of insect  such as thrips, are in it and have caused damage. If the weather is hot, that will stop flower buds opening and last of all, the rose has not been getting enough water when it was forming the flowers. And the last comment I can make is that your rose is simply not a good specimen and will always cause problems. Chrysler Imperial is a very good rose and in your area will perform  well, so it does appear that you have got one that is not up to standard. It is not unusual  if you buy a rose from big box stores or any other store that does not specialize in roses( such as a rose nursery ), that the rose will not be a good, healthy one.
