very wet ground

Question
What can I plant on a spot of about 8' diameter, that water seems to stand.  Thanks  I live in zone 7

Answer
You did not give me any details about your Sun or Soil, so we can't factor for that, but with a very damp location in our Zone, you will find plenty of plants that will grow nicely in that situation.

Alchemilla Mollis 'Lady's Mantle' is a moisture loving plant with chartreuse-Green flowers and light Green leaves.  It is unfussy about Shade or Sun.  Blooms mid-July through the end of the season.

Anthyrium Niponicum Pictum 'Japanese Painted Fern' is a bright, colorful Shade-lover that is easy to grow and will spread once established.

Hostas come in all kinds of Greens and Golds.  They are easy to please but might burn in Full Sun.

Hemerocallis, 'Daylilies', have been introduced in more colors than ever and are worth checking even if you don't need them.  They too are moisture tolerant.

Iris Sibirica, 'Iris', are not long bloomers, but they provide flowers for cutting and are easy to grow if you give them the basics.

Lysimachia nummularia Aurea, 'Golden Creeping Jenny', is one of my favorite groundcovers.
