Brugmansia bloom failure

Question
Live in zone 9-10 and having trouble getting Brugmansia candida to complete a full bloom.  The plant has lots of 1/2 bloomed buds that stop before a full bloom.  Good water, sun and fertalizer.

Answer
Hi Kelli,
Thanx for your question.  Even though brugmansias are from tropical South America they experience problems with blossom drop and abort blooms when they are exposed to too much heat.  While they need a warm environment, they need shade from the afternoon sun.  Water twice a day if in pots, in hot weather.  Fertilize according to directions on the box.  If you are in the Deep South of the U.S., afternoon sun is probably too hot and they will need to be planted or moved where they will get afternoon shade.  I hope this helps.
Tom
