Honeysuckle

Question
I purchased a Honeysuckle last season, repotted and placed them on my deck.  Though it's still fairly early in the year, I wondered when I can expect to see foliage and blooms again.  I did not bring them in during the winter months...oh by the way, I'm in Kansas.  Thanks

Answer
Hi Jill,
thanx for your question.  I'm sorry it took so long to get to you.  I live in Kansas too and my honeysuckle stays green until the very, very cold part of mid-winter.  It is starting to leaf back out again and will be filled in fully by the end of April.  I am in NE Kansas.  I don't recommend using pots for honeysuckle unless they are large and are protected from the cold, north wind.  Kansas has very hot, dry summers as you know and it is difficult to keep pots hydrated.  Additionally, our cold winters do not bode well for the roots of plants in planters.  I know there are a lot of plants that will live in planters in Kansas so keep the pots where they will not be adversely affected by the cold north wind.  I hope this helps.
Tom
