italian heather in zone 6

Question
I saw that you said that Italian heather should not be planted in the ground in zone 7 because of the frost. Does that also hold true for zone 7?

Answer
Hi Kat,
Thanx for your question.  Italian Heather, Erica ventricosa is only hardy down to about        20癋-28癋/-2皌o -6癈, so that means about Zone 9a, reliably, possibly Zone 8b.  Zones 6 and 7, are pretty much cold zones.  I hope this helps.

Tom
