Hi,

My orchid is in flower at present, but also seems to be growing 2 leaves off one of the stems that is in flower, one of the leaves is about 5 cm long, a little way down this stem is another leaf. Is this another orchid? If so what is the best way to detach it, I can't see any roots on it. Please help!

Hi Missy,

If the growth on the stem has leaves forming on it, it probably is a baby plantlet.  Wait until it grows a root over 2 inches long before removing it.  To remove it, twist it side ways while gently pulling it away from the stem several times, if it does not break off easily you can cut it off.  Once separated you can put it in a pot of its own with some potting media.
