phal orchid, droopy leaves

Question
my phal orchid flowers ok but it only had 3 leaves.  All 3 were droopy and soft, then one yellowed and browned and came off completely, the other two don't look good either green but one is also going yellowy and both are droopy & soft.  I had repotted the orchid in glass with a mix of orchid mix and sphagnum moss trying to allow some light and air into the roots.  Question: if the other 2 leaves fall off, will it survive?  Should I repot in a normal type pot?  I've tried putting it on a south facing windowsill, or on a table near the light.  please help, thank you.

Answer
Jan, orchids need to be grown in a well drained pot.  For phals, I prefer a plastic pot. Your plants needs to be repotted in the preferable pot and fresh orchid potting mix.  When you unpot your plant you will note a number of roots that are mushy or stringy.  These are dead and should be removed prior to repotting. Some of them probably provide nutrients to the leaves that are yellowing leaves, suggesting that those leaves will not survive.  If you have good roots and a healthy growing point for leaf development, the repotted plant may yet survive to grow new leaves and roots. Be sure to soak the fresh orchid potting mix prior to use.  After repotting you may water once per week.  Best growing location is in an east window.
