Spots on cymbidium blossoms

Question
These brown spots are all over the blossoms but are like stains, not raised or able to be wiped off as in the reply I read. Are they catching? Should they be quarantined? Destroyed?

Answer
Sena, it is likely that it is a fungus called botyritis caused by the flowers getting wet and then staying wet for an hour or more.  Always water early and try to avoid getting water on the blossoms.  It helps to use a fan to dry the flowers after each watering. I have seen this condition even in the greenhouses of commercial growers if they keep their greenhouses to humid with not enough air movement.  It can also happen during a cool period with cloudy days. It can spread if other flowers nearby are too wet and the humidity damp as fungal spores will land in these damp or wet spots and cause similar spotting.  There is no cure, only prevention.
