No flowers

Question
I read your answer on when there are no flowers on a plant you should re-pot it.  Should I also cut the branch back?  Bless you!

Answer
Suzi, if the old flower spike remains green cut it above a node (ie a joint).  However, if the old flower spike turns brown, you may cut off the entire spike.  Whether an old flower spike stays green or turns brown is a function of genes transmitted by the plant's parents.
