orchids freezed. Leaves are frozen

Question
What should I do. I gave the orchid potting soil. The leaves are dark and mushy. Should I cut them back. I am not watering them.

Answer
Mary, try to cut the leaves back to a healthy part off the leaf.  You are doing about all you can do.  If the tissue at the base of the leaves has been damaged the plant will not survive.  Be sure to seal the cut tissue with a fungicide such as powdered sulphur, rootone, or another powdered fungicide. Damaged plant tissue is subject to secondary fungal or bacterial infections so you want to head those off.  With-holding water until you have new growth is appropriate.
