moth orchids

Question
we bought a moth orchid from the farmers market and noticed that the leaves fell off after a couple of weeks, potting medium is moist-i check before watering- can it be saved? it just has the roots and no leaves, thank you so much!

Answer
Eloisa, it is unlikely that the plant can be revived.  When all leaves have been lost, it is likely that the tissue at the base of these leaves, which gives rise to new leaves, has also been damaged or destroyed.  If there is an old flower spike that remains green, it is possible that a new plant could arise from that flower spike.
