How to save my Cambria Orchid

Question
I recently fell in love with and brought about a month and a half ago, a 3 spike Cambria Orchid, which I have only been watering. One by one the flowers are drying up and falling of.Only 7 left in bloom. The middle stem has lost colour and is now pale brown and I also have two leaves that are turning from green to yellow to almost brown half way down.PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE can someone HELP ME. I not sure of what I might be doing wrong, but if I can I want to save my beautiful plant and see its health expressed in its vibrant yellow flowers with burgundy specks and lush-us green leaves. Any help and direction appreciated.

Answer
Sylvia, orchid flowers usually last 4-6 weeks so it appears that there is nothing wrong with your plant. If the other parts of the plant are healthy, you can groww this plant on for another blooming next year. This particular plant will not rebloom on old flower spikes but, will send up new flower spikes and reflower next blooming season.  When all of the flowers have dropped, cut off the flower spikes. It is also not unusual to lose a few leaves, but this may be a sign that root rot is setting in. It is generally recommended that orchids be repotted in fresh orchid potting mix after each flowering.  This boosts new growth for a future flowering and prevents root rot from overwatering.  See if you can locate a small bag of orchid potting mix (it will contain some fir bark and other ingredients.)  If you feel uneasy about repotting the plant, let me know and I can walk you through the steps.
