need identity of plant

Question
Hi Will,

Am hoping you can help me find the name of a plant that I have actually had for a number of years, but have forgotten the name of. I need to re-pot it, so need to read up on soil type, etc. It has a very exotic hot pink bloom that shoots up on a stalk. It has sword shaped leaves that are serrated, and they just grow up in a bunch from the soil. Dose this ring a bell to you?

Thanks for your offwerr to help.

Lorna

Answer
Hi Lorna,

Your plant may be a bromeliad, specifically an Aechmea fasciata.

If that is not what you have, please e-mail me a photo or tell me how yours differs from the Aechmea, providing as much detail as possible.

If it is what you have, let me now and I will provide care instructions and don't repot it.

Please let me know if any of this is unclear or if you have any additional questions.
