what kind of house plant do I have

Question
My husband brought home a house plant that he got from a co worker that was moving of of the country. I have no idea what it is or how to care for it.. Its a tall plant about 2 1/2 feet tall and has long leaves  with a lighter green color running down the middle of the leaf. can you help me

Answer
Hi Rhonda,

Based on your limited description, I would make an educated guess that the plant is a corn plant, known botanically as Dracaena massangeana.

If you do a Google Image search under this botanical name, you will get lots of photos of this plant.

If this is what you have, let me know and I will provide care instructions. If this is not what you have, let me know how yours differs or, better yet, e-mail a photo to me at [email protected].
