aleo vera plant


Question
i have a few aleo plants and they were doing great then all of a sudden the leaves got very droopy and almost like they were filled with water i dont know what i did but i hope you can help me fix them the leaves got very soft and mushey and when you pick the leaves up they just come off in your hand they almost feel like a water ballon

Hi Roxanne,

Exposure to temperature extremes (either hot or cold) and keeping the soil too moist are the only likely causes of those symptoms.

Unfortunately, recovery is unlikely, although if the roots have not been seriously damaged, your Aloe vera may eventually put out new growth.

If the soil was kept too moist, then it is likely that the roots have already rotted beyond repair.

All you can do is to make sure the soil dries out almost completely to the bottom of the pot in between waterings. And, of course, avoid temperature extremes.
