my cats love the mass cane

Question
well here is my problem i purchased the mass cane plant about a year ago becouse it was an eye catching plant. my new kittens thought it would be a good idea to use it as a tree climber. i have been trying to bring this plant back to life is there any hope for the plant or is it done please help me i am not sure if i need to cut down the bark repot it or if there is any hope left. The leaves are completly gone there is no blooms on it the bark still looks healthy and good but there is no leaves

Answer
Hi Jennifer,

Yours is certainly one of the more unusual questions I have been asked!

If the roots are healthy (the plant was properly watered and was not used as a potty by the cats) and the bark was not torn up as a scratching pole, then new growth should slowly emerge. But it may take a while, so be patient.

There is no need to cut down the canes or to repot the plant. In fact, either could do harm.

Please let me know if any of this is unclear or if you have any additional questions.
