how do you transplant the hens and chicks

Question
need to know how to transplants some ends of the plants over filling the pot round mexican looking pot ends coming out all over and even tall ends growing straight up into air what to transplant into six little pots glue together on one

Answer
Hi Muriel,

Hens and chicks (Sempervivum) put out baby plants called offsets that often extend over the rim of the pot. It is perfectly OK to let them grow like that. It does not mean that they need a larger pot. In fact, moving it to a larger pot would probably be a mistake.

If it looks too crowded or if you want to make more plants, then just remove some of the offsets along with their stems. Let them sit over night, then pot them up in their own small pots of very porous potting mix. Of course, water them very sparingly.

Please let me know if any of this is unclear or if you have any additional questions.
