Basic Care for Zebra Plants.

Question
I've researched basic care of Zebra plants online but have found very little other than a few questions about sick one...  I brought home a beautiful Zebra plant from my local supermarket about two weeks ago.  It was immediately repotted from a 4" plastic to a 6" clay pot.  I used Miracle Grow for flowering plants potting soil and put about and inch of gravel at the bottom.  The plant now sits close (but a little to the side of) to an East facing set of sliding glass doors. Sometimes the screen is left on that side diffusing the light some but overall -even when the screen isn抰 on that side- I would say it抯 bright indirect light.  It is accompanied by an African violet and a small Ponytail palm (she sit closest and directly in front of the door).  All seem to be doing well but all are fairly new plants? I read that the plant is similar to the Poinsettia in that they抮e kept around until the flowers fade 杢hen discarded.  Had I known I probably would not have liked it as much; what a waste given that the foliage is so pretty.  I抎 really like to do everything possible to keep mine around for as long as possible, please help.

Answer
Kimberly,

They are beautiful plants. Here are 2 websites with complete care info:

This plant and your ponytail both like bright light and as buch sun as possible. I would move them over to directly in front of the patio door so they would get sun all morning. You should keep it for as long as it looks good. The flower can be pruned off when it fades and if you give the plant enough light it will keep going and get busier if you keep pruning out the growing tip every 6 months or so.  It might even bloom again if you fertilze it monthly with a bloom building fertilizer. If you have more questions write again. Good luck.
