Leaves on Dracaena Lindenii turning brown

Question
I have had this plant for about 4 months and for the last month some of it's leaves have started to turn brown.  A few of the leaves are still ok, but the majority by now have started turning brown, they usually start at the tip then on the sides of the leaves, and some of the new baby leaves are turning brown before even growing.  I have cut some of the brown leaves off that had turned completely brown, but I have left the others cause the plant would look quite bear if I cut all the brown leaves off.  I keep the plant in a room where it has some light and IO water it reqularly, but I have moved the plant to sit in front of the wnidow as I thought maybe I overwatered it and I am trying to dry out the soil a bit.  Can you please help?

Answer
Hi Delyth,

The symptoms that you described definitely point in the direction of roots that are rotting. That is caused by watering too frequently, a pot that is too large, and not enough light.

If you moved your plant into a larger pot, then that is where the problem started and moving it back to its original pot would be advisable.

The soil should dry out one-third of the way down into the pot in between waterings.

In poor light, plants use very little water so it is that much easier to inadvertently overwater them. Your plant does best close to a window, but protected from the direct rays of the sun.

Once new growth starts to turn brown it is an indication that the root rot has progressed substantially and it is often very difficult for the plant to recover at that point.

Please let me know if any of this is unclear or if you have any additional questions.
