insect eggs on soil

Question
Hello,
Recently I was going to water my plants and I saw this yellow green goo on top of the soil in parts. Looking closer I saw that it was tiny round eggs under a silky like material. I threw out all the infected soil and one of the plants. I kept cuttings of the other. I didn't see any bugs on the other plants, or goo in their soil. The soil was moist where the goo was and the goo was in a sort of crevice. The eggs were round like very small pingpong balls.
Any idea what they were?
Thank you so much for any help  you can give.

Answer
Amy,

They were the eggs for fungus gnats. That indicates you are watering too much, keeping your pllants too wet. You need to let them dry out longer between waterings. Also next time you repot anything add extra perlite to the soil. 2 parts soil to 1 part perlite. That will make your soil looser and better draining. Only repot between April 1st and June 30th. Good luck.
