Hi Will,

I'm from Malaysia, a Tropical country.

Some of my Alocasia doesn't grown well,

Does Alocasia likes direct sunlight or partially shade, Sometimes the soil has dry up before watering, Do I need to maintain the soil to be humid all the time ? Or I can plant some scrubs or groundnuts to cover up the surface to avoid drying up.

I have tried to water the plants quite often, but the root was rotten.   

Do appreciate if you can give me some advice and your expertise.

Hi Gary,

You didn't specify, but I assume that you are growing your Alocasia outside in the ground. My expertise is limited to houseplants - indoor potted plants - so I cannot be of much help with your Alocasia.

However, I do know that most Alocasia species need protection from direct sunlight and also have a dormant dry period.

I suggest that you check with someone local who is familiar with your particular climate and soil composition where you live.
