Fiddle Fig

Question
For some reason my fig is losing leaves.  I only water it when the top soil feels dry.  Maybe it is not getting enough water?  Also, some of the leaves are brown and dead around the edges, is this a problem?  I have had the plant 4-5 months and this leave dropping just started.
Help!!!!!!!

Answer
Hi Meredith,

The leaf drop has several possible causes. Not getting enough light is the most common reason. Your Ficus lyrata should be right in front of a bright window that is uncovered throughout the day.

If it is in its original pot, then water it thoroughly as soon as the top inch of soil feels dry to the touch. If you repotted it, then it will need to dry several inches into the pot.

Please let me know if any of this is unclear or if you have any additional questions. If you would like to e-mail me some photos, I may be able to provide some additional insights.
