outdoor rubber plant

Question
I just bought a rubber plant and am planning on planting it in a somewhat small courtyard under a overhang of a bout 12 inches from the roof. I just found out how big thee trees actually get so now I am wondering how I can keep it smaller than 10 feet. Should I leave it in a pot? How big is the maximum pot I should use to keep it under 10 foot? i live in zone 9 and will have it in part sun but in a damp area, will this do? Also, will azalea do well in the same spot that I just described?

Thanks, Angelle

Answer
Hi Angelle,

My area of expertise is limited to indoor potted plants. However, I can tell you that rubber trees will survive outside only in Zones 10-12 where temps stay above freezing. So I don't think planting it outside in Zone 9 is advisable.

Rubber trees can be kept with certain height limits by pruning then back regularly.

There are many types of Azalea, so I cannot tell you which is suitable for your area. You will need a local gardening expert to help you with that.
