Rubber plant disease

Question
I have a rubber plant that has developed yellow spots on the leaves.  It started last year when I placed the plant outside (on the shade).  At that time, it had two or three leaves with the problem.  After consulting with a nursery, they told me to use fungicide. The fungicide did not solve the problem. This year, 50 percent of the plant has this condition.  I have already cut the affected leaves but I am afraid that I will have a rubber plant without any leaves by the end of the summer.  What can I do?

Answer
If the spots are yellow only and have no associated brown tissue, I would say the problem is environmental.  Rubber plants are susceptible to this kind of problem.  I would move the plant to another spot.  If you ahve it in indirect shade, move it to a little more sunlight, but not direct full sunlight.  You can also try to spritz the leaves each day with fresh water.  Depending on your geographic location, the humidity may be low and the plant is a tropical requiring high humidity all the time.  Give the plant a few weeks to see if growth improves.  You may find a similar situation occur when you bring it back inside.  Make sure the plant has high humidity under all plant placement situations. Fertilize with a slow release fertilizer such as Osmocote 14-14-14.  I hope this helps solve the problem.  Good Luck.
