Dracaena Corn Plant

Question
We just bought it about a month ago & it sits in the corner of our dining room by a window, where we partially open the blinds everyday before we go to work.  And we live in California, so it's not like it's sun-deprived.  We also water it twice a week.  But even though I feel we're doing everything right, it looks worse & worse every week.  The leaves started to crinkle & now some are turning yellow.  I don't know what to do.  Perhaps our apartment is too hot during the day?  If so, would putting a fan on the plant help it cool down?  Please advice!!

Answer
Hi Ashley,

I agree that it is not likely to be sun deprived. It could be getting too much light, but that is unlikely as long as the blinds protect your corn plant from direct sun.

Heat could be a problem, not because of temperature but because it may be causing the soil to dry out faster. A fan would only increase the rate of evaporation.

Your description of the symptoms is a bit vague and subjective. I need to know how extensive the symptoms are. It would really help a lot of you could email me some photos that demonstrate your concerns with it. At least one photo should show the entire plant including its pot.

What is its potting history and what is the diameter of the existing pot? Does that pot have drainage holes in it?

I look forward to your reply.
