Drought And House Plants

Question
My questions is: since we have a total water ban in Georgia due to the drought is it safe to use dish water on house  plants. It's just my husband and I so we wash dishes by hand, and take showers this time of year anyway.

If I save my dish water will it harm my plants, they are house plants but still outside until time to bring them in, some plants are vines and some peace lily plants.

Sincerely,
MG

Answer
You are asking about irrigating with 'Gray Water'.  General rules dictate this should be used within 24 hours to be healthy.

There is a ban on using Gray Water in some communities, but it is a legitimate, acceptable, safe method of watering, and recycles water in the best possible way.  It should be encouraged, not encouraged or prohibited.

Peace Lilies will not be hurt by the Gray Water.
