My Dwarf Banana plant......

Question
Hi,
I have a Dwarf Banana plant that I got from fourseasons nursery online. It is growing fine and fast. I transplanted it last month or so into a bigger deeper pot and now it's roots are coming out the bottom. Now I know I could get a deeper pot but it will only lead me to an even deeper pot ect. Is there any way I could cut down the roots or curl them to keep them them in the pot? A slip came with the plant saying that It can't take cold weather so I brought it in now that it's gotten to like 50 degrees. I plan to keep it in my bathroom where there is humidity from showers is that a good idea or should I just put it in the diningroom? I also have 2 other dwarf plants-orange and lemon. Also I have 2 Mushoo Geranium mosquito plants and a climbing shell plant should I bring those in now as well?
Thanks for your time,
                     Rachel

Answer
Hi Rachel,

Stray roots wandering out of drainage holes is not a cause for concern or a reason to move the plant to a larger pot. Simply the cut the roots off where they emerge from the holes. There are plenty of healthy roots within the soil, so cutting off a few strays will not hurt the plant.

In general, it is best to move your houseplants inside as soon as temps drop down to 50 degrees.

The humidity in bathrooms is vastly over-rated unless there are dozens of showers taken every day! Bright light is far more important for your Banana plant than high humidity. So locate it where it will get the most direct sunlight.
