Ficus tree living outside

Question
We moved our 7' fichus outdoors for the summer. It now has ants in the large pot and it need to come in very quickly because of the Long Island, NY weather. How do I safely remove the ants which have 'dug in' and become somewhat inactive in the soil without harming the roots or plant itself before bringing the plant indoors?

Thanks,

Don

Answer
Bring your Ficus indoors NOW.  But have a few Ant Traps handy.  You can place them on the surface of the Soil.  In no time flat, the Ant nests will be history.

Surround the Ficus on the floor -- I hope you have a tile or wood floor for this -- with a circle of Boric Acid powder.  Hunters will never make it across the DMZ.

In a week, this story will be old news.

DO NOT water the Ant Traps when you water the pot.  You need that problem like a hole in the head.

Fast, easy, simple, and cheap.  And not toxic.  I love it.

Or you can buy a pet Anteater.  More fun.
