string of beads

Question
I have a 3 year old huge  string of beads and for the last 3 months (since September)it has these white flower like things all over it.I am not sure if they are flowers or not.I herd that this plant is extremely poisonous if ingested,is this true.my last question is how could I start a new plant from my existing one?thank you

Answer
Candice,

Yes, all parts of plant are poisonous if ingested. Do not allow pets or children to nibble on this beautiful plant.

Stem cuttings are easy to propagate, just cut stem near a node, dip them in rooting hormone and stick the cuttings into a sandy cactus soil or a mix of regular soil and sand. Cuttings are best taken after April 1st when the days are getting longer, they will root faster. If you want to root them now put them under fluorescent light within 6 inches of the light and keep the light on for 14 hours a day. They should root within a couple of weeks.  Leaf "balls" will loose their round shape when the plant is in need of watering.

This is the time of year that this plant blooms and the flowers are white so I imagine they are blooms. Some say they smell like cinnamon.

If you have more questions feel free to write again. Good luck.

Darlene
