plants are dieing

Question
I pruned my plants and I think I did It wrong I clipped all the large leaves now they seem to be drying out one is turning yellow all over the leaves that remain and I think the stem might be getting softer what can I do If anything  HELP

Answer
Stephanie,
If the stem is getting softer then the plant has stem rot (and probably root rot as well) which has nothing to do with pruning the plant. Stem rot and root rot is caused by overwatering. Unfortunately there is nothing you can do to save the plant. What you can do is change your watering practices so that it doesn't happen to another plant.
As a general rule, you should allow the top 1-2 inches of soil to dry between watering. Then water the plant until a small amount of water drains from the drainage holes in the bottom of the pot.

I hope this helps. If you have any questions or need additional information please don't hesitate to ask.
          Thanks
