Helpless case of the fungus nats

Question
I have been trying the potato trick and although it must be working to some degree I am going absolutely crazy with these things?  How and where do I get the solutions that you mentioned to kill these suckers out of my plants.  If I see another one of these in my food, bathroom, etc.  I am going to end up killing all of my plants! UGH!

Answer
Angela,

To start with empty the water out of the drain trays of all of your house plants immediately. Let your plants dry out well before watering them again. Do not water until the pots feel light weight when you pick them up then give them water a cup of rubbing alcohol added per quart of water. The alcohol will kill the fungus gnats in the soil. The fungus gnats are there because you are overwatering your plants and the fine roots are beginning to rot which attracts the fungus gnats just like old bananas laying on your kitchen counter attracts fungus gnats. They are attracted by anything rotting. Rubbing alcohol will kill them. Cut the amount of water you are giving your plants in half and empty the drain trays an hour after you water your plants, then do not water again until they have been dry for a couple of days and that will stop the fungus gnats. Good luck.
