burros tail (donkey)

Question
my burros tail seems to be wilting in places. Some of the tips are turning light green or a pale yellow colour. We do have city water but I only water about once a month but I haven't fed it. The size is about 14 inches wide about 12-14 inches in lenght. It is very very full

Answer
Willie,

I suspect someone else may be giving your burros tail a drink when you are not looking. Your desription sounds like mine when I accidently overwatered him. You neeed to let him dry out. Make sure no one else is watering him. Stick a bamboo skewer into the soil and leave it for an hour them pull it out. If it is dark you will know it is wet and you will know the problem is overwatering. Put the skewer back in and leave it there cut it off so it is just above the plant so you can get a hold of it to pull it out to check the soil. When you think it is time to water pull it out, if it is dry and light colored water it, if not, wait a few more days. That way you can be sure whether it needs water or not. Good luck.
