blooming or flowering palm plant?

Question
Hi - I have had a palm plant for at least four years now - it is thriving and
has even sprouted new shoots from the base of the trunk, up from the soil.  It
stands in a very sunny area of the home and I water it from time to time.  I
just noticed in the last week that there are new blossoms? coming out of four
of the five shoots, including one of the new sprouts.  They look kind of like
broccoli florets but less full and sort of a lavender-ish color with a green
stalk, similar to what some herb plants do after yielding produce for a while?
I don't know... What is it and should I cut them off?  Can I grow anything with
that part if I put it in soil?   I will try to send a picture to the indicated
address.  Please advise and thanks for your time.

Answer
Tanya,

Your plant is not a palm, it is a Dracaena deremensis 'Janet Craig'. The shoots you have are strictly for the purpose of blooming. They will not start a new plant. Enjoy the blooms while you have them. They do not often bloom. It appears you take excellent care of your plant. You can get more info on the plant at the following site:

When the flowers fade and turn brown you should cut them off. If you have more questions after reading the above site feel free to write again. Good luck.

Darlene
