Peace lily blooms/flowers Browning

Question
I read a post that said when the flowering blooms turn brown you should cut them off, am I cutting the whole bloom or just the leaf?  The leaf is the only thing browning. If i have to cut the whole leaf and bloom where should I cut it, at the bottom of the flower or all the way down the whole thing?

Answer
Nicole,

First I want to get things straight, the bloom includes the white petal and the yellow calyx in the center. The leaves of the plant are all green. When the flower fades and turns brown you should run your fingers to the bottom of the stem it is on and cut the stem off as low as possible without cutting into a leaf stem that it will be growing out of. Just cut the flower stem off. To keep your plant blooming well fertilize it with a water soluable fertilizer like Miracle Grow that is for Blooming plants once every 2 weeks. Also give it a tablespoon of Epsom salts every 6 months or so or whenever it is not blooming. Epsom salts is magnesium sulfate and it triggers blooming plants to bloom. If you  have more questions feel free to write again. Good luck.
