bugs in plants

Question
I have very small silver like bugs in my plant soil, what can I do to get rid of them without harming my plant?

Thanks.

Tracy

Answer
Tracy,

Water your plant with rubbing alcohol. It will kill the insects in the soil without harming the plant any more than it alreaady is. The insects are attracted to the rotting roots because you have been keeping your plant to wet. It has to be dried out. After watering with the  alcohol wait 30 minutes then remove the drain tray and let the water run down the sink drain for several hours. After that do not water the plant again until it feels dry on the surface of the soil and lighter weight when you pick it up. Good luck.
